Dressing for your photo shoot is very important. A good dress can make you feel amazing and make it much easier for your photographer to get some fantastic photos of you. One of my favorite places to shop for maternity dresses right now is ASOS , they have the most flattering dresses I have ever seen. The goal with your glamour maternity shoot with us is to create runway type images. Unfortunately, runway type maternity dresses are difficult to find but ASOS seems to have their game face on and has several!
What to Avoid:
These dresses are beautiful and perfect for going out but not so great for photo shoots. We want to define your waist! When you wear dresses that are baggy you will look larger than you are and the photographer will not be able to pose you with our tricks to make you look slimmer and curvy. Baggy sleeves are beautiful for day to day but for photos they will make your arms look bigger. Same goes for the flap some dresses have to cover your breasts, the large flap of fabric will make you look even larger up top and do nothing for your curves. Lastly please please please avoid neon colors and bold patterns, your photographer will love you for for it.
*Another thing to avoid is the jersey dresses you find everywhere and probably see in a lot of maternity photos. Yes they mostly fit your shape snugly but to be completely honest most of them look pretty cheap. Not only that, but I have found that most of the time my clients just don’t feel very luxurious in them either.
What to Wear:
Love maxi dresses with all my heart but don’t be scared to do a pencil dress as well. Bringing multiple dresses that look different will improve you gallery and give you lots of options. My favorite thing about glamour maternity sessions is the richness of the photos. In order to match the dress to the shoot, look for gorgeous textures and interesting designs. Lace, sequin, and gathered fabric are all things that will look amazing! Notice in these pictures there is one of the same models. Doesn’t she look way more slim in these dresses below than above? Fitted dresses are the way to go hands down, for any shape or size.
- Do not forget about your decolletage! Chandelier earrings and statement necklaces can kick up your photos ten fold!
