Have you ever wondered why photographers edit Newborn Pictures? or what goes on behind the scenes?
This is an example of a sped up edit for you to see a snapshot of what goes on behind the scenes editing newborn pictures. Because photography is an art, the vision that photographers have sometimes cant be achieved straight out of camera. The process of editing out distracting red marks, pimples, little pieces of fluff or distracting backgrounds is only just some of what we do behind the scenes. As you can see, not only do I do that stuff mentioned, I also change the look of the photos by adding some warmer neutral tones at the end and adding some shadows. Just like how each painters work is different, each photographers work will be too. The last part of editing is truly when the photographer can put their stamp on their work.
Editing Newborn Pictures takes time! This video is actually an 8 min edit; however, for the purpose of this blog post I sped it up to 45 seconds. This photo would be what I would call a very simple edit, there are many photos that are much more complicated and can take around fifteen minutes each to edit. More of my time lapses can be found on Youtube. For this picture, First I edit all the flakes of skin on the babies face. This includes tiny pimple and hairs left from the wool props I use. Then second I will go on to correct the red marks on her face or red blotches. I will fix the floor drop and create some more shadows for a dramatic effect.
On of my most favorite things to when editing newborn pictures is to add a warming filter at the end. This brings a bit more life to the images.
